What Can You Do?
Talk To Your Customers about the importance of local businesses and the challenges they face
against the huge big-box and multi-nationals. Encourage them to visit www.KingstonBuyLocal.com for more information.
Educate Your Employees about the "Buy Local" movement so they will be better equipped to answer customer's questions about your involvement
with the movement. Have your employees encourage the customers to visit the website for more information.
Recruit Other Locally Owned Businesses by explaining the benefits for them and the community of Kingston.
Source Goods & Services from other locally owned businesses. Examine your list of vendors and look for
opportunities to shift some or all of your purchasing from non-local to local suppliers.
Spread The Word about the Kingston Buy Local movement. Help by writing letters and news releases
to the local newspapers, televison station, radio stations, and other media outlets.
Put a 'link' on your website with a nice write up about the movement.
Encourage community and non-profit groups you are involved with to include
information about the "Kingston - Buy Local" movement in their newsletters, on their websites (linking to www.KingstonBuyLocal.com website)
and to join the movement as well.
Give Locally - consider sponsoring and donating to local charities and non-profits, in addition to national and international non-profits you might already support.
By donating locally, you and the Kingston community will receive many of the same economic and social benefits as
when you buy local goods and services.
ALL TOGETHER we can promote locally owned, independent businesses in a effort to
preserve Kingston's unique character and ongoing economic viability. There IS
